As one of the most visited cities in California, San Diego has plenty to offer to travelers from all over the world: Bustling commerce, incredible museums, a world-class zoo, a lively entertainment scene, amazing parks, you name it.

What’s more, while San Diego City alone can entertain a visitor for weeks, the metropolitan area also has fun things to do in spades, making travel a crucial thing to consider when planning a visit to San Diego.

While public transportation is sufficient for traveling around the city proper, you’ll have to think outside the box when traveling with a large group, which is where renting a passenger van comes into place. Working with companies like All-Star Rent a Van can give you the freedom of movement you need to truly explore the best things San Diego has to offer.

Amusement Parks & Zoos

If you’re traveling with children or you’re with a group of animal lovers, visiting the famed San Diego Zoo and San Diego Sea World are no doubt on your list of priorities, and while both can be reached through public transportation, you’ll no doubt get there much faster on a rented van.

San Diego Zoo is a 15-minute ride in public transportation from downtown San Diego while traveling in a rented van gets you there in 5 minutes. If 10 minutes difference isn’t a big deal to you, then take a look at Sea World, where public transportation takes 1 hour, and a ride on your rental van is only 15 minutes away.

The same goes for Legoland (40 minutes drive vs 1:30 minutes public transportation), and Belmont Park (20 minutes drive vs 50 minutes public transportation.)

Not to mention that traveling back to your hotel or rental property after a long day of walking under the sun and purchasing souvenirs is a lot easier and more comfortable on a rented van than on a packed bus.

Coastal Towns

San Diego is surrounded by gorgeous coastal towns full of incredible restaurants, unique small businesses, public parks, beach-side entertainment, and more, all of which are much easier to reach in a rental van than using public transportation.

La Joya, one of San Diego’s most famous neighborhoods, is just a 20-minute drive from the city, compared to 1 hour of traveling via bus.

Other beach towns, like Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Encinitas offer miles of sandy beaches, palm-tree-lined streets, charming ocean views, and the kind of laid-back atmosphere you can’t find in the big city, all within a short driving distance from San Diego proper.

Visiting Mexico

If exploring San Diego isn’t enough for you, you might want to travel to its neighboring country, Mexico. Here, public transportation will only get you close to the border, while All-Star Rent a van’s fleet is fully authorized to enter the country with no issue.

If you feel like visiting Mexico in one of our 11, 12, and 15-passenger vans, give us a call to make a reservation!
