There’s simply no better season for road trips than summer. With that in mind, we’ve collected a small list of road trip essentials to help you be ready for yours.

We’ve previously talked about how road trips are one of the quintessential ways of exploring America or any other country, but with the arrival of summer, we find ourselves touching the same subject.

There’s no better season than summer to embark on a long -or short- road trip with friends and family and, with that in mind, we’ve gathered a list of summer road trip essentials that will help you be as ready as you can.

Now all you need to do is rent a van and get going!

Spare Cash
We might live in the era of technology where credit cards and digital payments reign supreme, however, spare cash still has its place in this day and age, and you’ll find yourself using it plenty when on a road trip.
Make sure to include both bills and coins, as you’ll never know when you’ll need each one.
If you’re planning a summer road trip in Mexico –which our vans are ready to do– make sure to exchange at least some of your money for pesos, as not every place will take dollars.

A Paper Map
We know, we know. That’s what the GPS is for, right?
Well, whether you’re getting one with us or you’re using the one in your phone, it always pays to have a paper map on hand.
As with cash, you never know when you’re going to use it, and we’re firmly in the “it’s better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it” camp.

Road trips are full of stunning views that will captivate even the most demanding travelers out there, but that doesn’t mean that’s the only entertainment you should have at hand.

The right playlist can take your summer road trip to the next level and, if all else fails, having a book or a magazine around can also make things go smoothly.
Don’t count on your phone’s battery to last you the entire trip.

Spare Tire / Extra Gasoline
While this won’t be a problem if you plan to stick to large cities, it’s a consideration you should take if you’re planning to get off the beaten path.
Just like the map and the cash, taking precautions can get you out of a jiffy, and since vacations are meant to be fun, it pays to be ready to face any eventually.

An ice cooler
A/C is a wonderful invention, but sometimes, when the days are particularly hot, it’s just not enough.
An ice cooler can keep your beverages cold and ready to be enjoyed, and if you’re the kind of person who enjoys eating while driving, it can also keep the mess to a minimum and leave any uneaten food unspoiled!

Driver’s License
This one seems like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised just how many people forget to check that their license is still valid.
Make sure to check yours before embarking on a road trip, and if you’re visiting Mexico, make sure it’s valid there too!
