USS Midway Museum’s Legacy Week.

With a concert, numerous family activities, interactive exhibits, and a Wreath Memorial ceremony, no Memorial Day celebration is complete without visiting San Diego’s USS Midway Museum.

Valley Center Stampede Rodeo & Memorial Festival

Held in Valley Center, a rural community that evokes America’s western history, this rodeo is a family-friendly way of commemorating America’s veterans.

With both youth and adult rodeos, a parade and numerous food offerings, this volunteer-run event offers something for everything.

The best thing about this event? All the profits will go to local organizations dedicated to promoting the morale of the US troops.

House of Pacific Relations’ Ethnic Food Fair

If your idea of fun involves copious amounts of food, then this is the event for you.

Held in Downtown San Diego, this food fair brings to the table 34 different cuisines from all over the world, as well as various kinds of music and dances, each showcasing the diversity of our country.

The event is free to attend (though you do need to pay for the food) and takes place in Balboa Park, making it an exceptional choice for those who prefer celebrating Memorial Day outdoors.

Sail San Diego Bay on Memorial Day!

If what you’re looking for is an opportunity to enjoy the ocean then San Diego is the right place to do it.

There are numerous tour companies that will sail you around San Diego Bay through the day, giving you a stunning view of the city and its beautiful surroundings.

If San Diego Bay isn’t your ideal destination, you can always get in your rented van and drive to Mission Bay, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, Del Mar and other nearby destinations with beautiful seaside attractions and even more sailing offerings.


Sesame Street Party Parade

If you’re visiting San Diego, there’s a good chance a visit to SeaWorld is already on your plans, but if it’s not, you may want to consider adding it because from May 25 through September 1, your children will be able to enjoy one of the most colorful parades on earth.


This weekend-only parade brings your Sesame Street favorites to life and will give children and adults alike something to remember for the years to come.

Santee Street Fair and Craft Beer Festival.

If you’re traveling with a group of friends, then hop on your van and drive to Santee because this is a delicious event that mixes food, beer, music and more!

With over 300 food and craft beer vendors, carnival rides, local entertainment and a special memorial exhibit dedicated to Fallen Soldiers of the War on Terror, this event isn’t one you want to miss.

Rest assured that while “Craft Beer” is right there in the title, this is a family-friendly event and your children will be able not only to attend but to enjoy the food, the local art exhibits, and an inflatable zone.
